During two days Sergey Makeev will be learning about the work activities of the Krasnoyarsk Krai State Universal Scientific library which is to house the future branch of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. He will also attend the meetings of the working group. It is the first visit of Makeev to the Krasnoyarsk Krai State Universal Scientific library.

The Bois Yeltsin Presidential library hosted the thematic Doors Open Day devoted to the 68th anniversary of the Nazi defeat near Leningrad. Under the vaults of the former Senate which now houses an unique historical treasury, got together the survivors of siege, the home front workers and today’s students. There they learned about the work of the electronic library.

19 January 2012 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library hosted a meeting devoted to the 290th anniversary of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office and the 90th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Leningrad region. All the attendees of the ceremonial meeting were offered a tour around the Presidential library during which they visited two exhibitions. One of them has been organized by the library’s staff in co-operation with the Leningrad Oblast prosecutor’s office. It is devoted to the history of development of prosecutors’ institution. The second one, a virtual one, displays historical portraits of the majority of Russian attorneys-general.

The first round of the “Russia in the electronic world” Olympiad of the Presidential Library is completed. The public relations service of the library informed the “Baltinfo” that the second round will be attended by the senior high school students and students of the primary and secondary vocational schools from fifty four regions of the Russian Federation. The second round of the “Russia in the electronic world” Olympiad is held from December 19, 2011 to January 30, 2012. The participants who will gain the greatest number of points will be invited to St. Petersburg. The Presidential Library will host the final round and the awarding ceremony for winners.

Users can visit the electronic reading room of the regional library absolutely free. Recently, the Amur Regional Library held the opening ceremony of the regional center of access to the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library resource or the electronic reading room. Now, rare editions from the Presidential library’s collections are available to the library’s visitors.

The collections of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library are now available for the residents of… Spain. It became possible due to the opening of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Madrid by the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation.

In the framework of opening electronic reading rooms abroad, the Presidential library signed the trilateral agreement with the Presidential Property Management Department of the Russian Federation and Rossotrudnichestvo, the library’s press service informed Baltinfo.

The work on creation of the center has been conducted in the Kamchatka Krai since 2007, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, December 8, Sever DV. Friday, December 9, the S. Krasheninnikov Kamchatka Krai Scientific Library will host the opening ceremony of the Kamchatka Regional Center of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, informed RIA Sever DV at the press service of the governor and government of the Kamchtka Krai

Electronic Reading Room of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library opened in the Pacific State University. The state-of-the-art electronic library is now available for all the residents of Khabarovsk. The red ribbon at the entrance of the room was cut today by V. Shport, Khabarovsk Krai Governor, together with S. Ivanchenko, the Pacific State University Chancellor.

Today the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will host the first forum “Art and Reality”. The interaction of the mass media and art will be discussed on the international level for the first time. The forum will last until 27 November, informs the library’s press service.

22 November in the town of Pushkino will signed the Co-operation Agreement between the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the government of the Moscow region. This Moscow area town will house a branch of the repository

17 November, on the eve of the birthday anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov, the Presidential Library held a series of events devoted to the eminent scholar. The multimedia hall of the library hosted a video lecture center. The first lecture for senior high school students of St. Petersburg delivered Director of the Linguistic Research Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician N. N. Kazansky. His speech “Lomonosov as a reformer of the Russian language” was broadcasted life on the Presidential Library’s portal.

It is the first municipal electronic library in the Far East and the sixth in Russia. At the ceremony held in the Gaidar Central Municipal Children’s library was organized a video conference with St. Petersburg. The Director General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library A. P. Vershinin congratulated on this significant event the mayor of the Far East capital Alexander Sokolov and all the residents of Khabarovsk.

In the context of the “Dialogue: Russia – Republic of Korea” International Forum, 1st November the Presidential Library will sum up the results of the II International Photo Contest “Foreign View”. Winners of various nominations will be awarded with prizes. Photographs submitted to the contest which comply with the subject area of collections will be included into the library’s electronic archive. The awards will be handed to contestants by consuls of those countries which supported the photo contest.

Governor of Novosibirsk Region Vasiliy Yurchenko and the Director General Deputy of the Presidential Library Sergey Makeev discussed the development of co-operation between the region and the library. The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library is the first national electronic library providing access to rare archival documents. The electronic holdings of the library include over 100, 000 items of electronic copies of the most rare historical documents and books, as well as little known archival materials previously inaccessible for the general public.

27 October 2011 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will host the Second Theoretical & Practical Conference “Cultural Heritage: Integration of Resources in Digital Environment”. Librarians, archivists and museum workers of Russia will consider the issues of integration of regional holdings into electronic information resources.

11 October in the L. N. Tolstoy State Pedagogical University, Tula, took place the signing of Co-operation Agreement between the University and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, and an opening ceremony of the Electronic Reading Room.

Let us note, that the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library is one of the three national libraries of the Russian Federation. The library was granted this status in 2008 having become thus the third national library in the country. Another two are the Russian State Library in Moscow and the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg.

The Electronic Reading Room which provides access to unique collections of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library to students opened on Tuesday at the State Pedagogical University of Tula, informed the RIA Novosti Maria Malysheva, university’s representative. According to her, representatives of the L. N. Tolstoy State Pedagogical University of Tula and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library signed on Tuesday a Co-operation Agreement.

Governor of Jewish Autonomous Region (Oblast) Alexander Vinnikov has signed an agreement concerning foundation of Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library’s regional center in the region. As a result of the agreement access center to library’s information resources will open its doors at the facility of Birobidzhan Sholem Aleichem Universal Scientific Library.

This year (June 20-September 12) the theme offered to participants is: “21st century state”. Two largest digital libraries of Russia and Federal Republic of Germany have agreed on cooperation. In the end of June they will sign an agreement under which the libraries will exchange information about the Russian history. Two leading digital libraries of Russia and Federal Republic of Germany – the Bavarian State Library and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library are going to conclude an agreement on cooperation. The document will be signed 28 June in Munich by Directors General of the libraries, Rolf Griebel and Alexander Vershinin in the presence of Andrei Grozov, reported the German party on Tuesday, 21 June. As a part of the agreement, the largest digital libraries of Russia and Germany will exchange information on digital carriers treating of Russian history.

Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library announces the start of the II International contest of genre, reportage and documentary photographs for professionals and amateurs Foreign View. According to the Library’s press service a part of the photographs selected by experts will be included in the collections of the Presidential Library.

The Bois Yeltsin Presidential Library (St. Petersburg) Director General Alexander Vershinin and Krasnoyarsk Krai Governor Lev Kuznetsov have signed an agreement. Thus Krasnoyarsk Krai has officially joined the program on creation of regional branches of the Presidential Library.

The Institute of Peter the Great was inaugurated today in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.

The event was attended by members of the municipal government, a writer Daniil Granin, attendees of the III Congress of Peter’s cities. At the first meeting were presented the objectives of the Institute. The major one is the study and promotion of Peter’s heritage. Kirgizia has become the 74th country where the Rossotrudnichestvo opens the Science and Culture Center of the Russian Federation. The facility is located in the heart of the city, near the monument to a famous commander Mikhail Frunze whose name had belonged to the capital of Kirgizia for a long time. The Center disposes of up-to-date equipment, computer and methodology classes for studying Russian language.

Electronic reading room of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library has opened in Kostroma. Today it was solemnly opened at Kostroma Nekrasov State University. The electronic reading room is a classroom equipped with 10 modern computers which provide access to the library’s holdings numbering over 50 thousand digitized copies of old manuscripts, rare maps, newspapers and photo albums. They all have been made available to the wide public.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has expressed concern about the increase of Christianophobia in the world. Members of the Synod called on the world community, religious leaders to work out a universal and effective mechanism for protection of Christians and Christian communities.

Russian high school students had an opportunity to experience innovative teaching methods. Specially for students the Presidential Library organized the first interactive Olympiad in national history "Russia in the electronic world". The competition brought together young "historians" from 72 regions of the Russian Federation. 18 May 2011 in Helsinki opened Electronic Reading Room of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. It provides access to an unique collections of books, archival documents and photographs on the history of Russian-Finnish relations. The Electronic Reading Room is a computer class of 6 seats equipped with up to date hardware which allows users to access resources of the Presidential Library and search electronic documents through its collections.

The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library in St. Petersburg has held a scientific conference "The idea of the legal state in Russia: History and Modernity ", marking the 150th birthday anniversary of P. A. Stolypin. Participants discussed the possibility of using the experience of the law reformation to strengthen the modern legal state. The plenary session was opened by the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Alexander Konovalov. He stressed that now, the same way as in early 20th century, the country faces the problem of modernization of all spheres of economic and social life, and therefore the mechanisms of law making and enforcement should be improved. The conference continued in breakup groups. The Presidential Library hosted two groups: "Ideas and problems of legal statehood in Russia in light of the heritage of P. A. Stolypin" and "Development of the judicial system as a basis for forming the rule of law".

The collection of the Presidential library “Memories of the great victory” was enriched by rare materials about the war. The materials were given by the National library of Belarus, National library of Republic of Karelia and Omsk state regional scientific library.

In this meeting took part the director of the department of information and library development of NArFU Petr Ovsyankin and his assistant Marina Ananchenko. Sergei Makeev came to Arkhangelsk to discuss the preparation for the opening of the electronic reading room and the possible development of this project to a full format of a regional branch in 2013-2014.

Specialists from the Penza Regional Library named after Lermontov trained in the Presidential Library. During the trainee Penza specialists got acquainted with the work of the Presidential Library, explored possibilities for creation of its branch in the Penza region, studied technologies forming the digital content of the library.

Inhabitants of Slovenia will have an opportunity to learn more about Russia. 21 April in the capital of the Republic of Slovenia will take place a grand opening ceremony of the Russian Center of Science and Culture. The ceremony will be attended by the Head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergei Lavrov (AUDIO).

A scientific conference “Electronic legislation: access to legal information in an electronic environment” was held in the Presidential library. The event was organized in co-operation with Federal Service of Russia. At the plenary session presentations were made by the representatives of governments, companies - developers of reference of legal systems and scientific organizations. The conference was continued by workshops. At the same time was held a seminar for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library showed “Open Space”

On March 31, 2011 in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library completed its first round of online competition in the history of the Fatherland "Russia in the electronic world" and the results of the first round were summarized.

Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Far East of the Russian Federation Victor Ishaev acquainted with the establishment of Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library branches in the regions of the Far East. According to the information given in the office of Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy there are four signed agreements between the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kamchatka, Khabarovsk Territory and Magadan Region. There are also prepared projects of the relevant agreements by the executive authorities of Primorsky Krai, Amur Region, Sakhalin and Chukotka.

200th anniversary of Internal Troops of the RF MVD celebration will start in St. Petersburg. The events will begin with a gunshot of the Peter and Paul Fortress at noon. A wreath will be laid on the grave of Alexander I, the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will host a practical and theoretical conference of the Ministry for Internal Affairs and internal troops administration.

On the opening of the exposition “Authority and society on the path to emancipation reform” timed to 150th anniversary of the abolition of serfdom in Russia, featuring documents which reflect the history of serfdom and advancement of the state and society to the reform.

The RF President Dmitry Medvedev and Spanish King Juan Carlos I discussed the issues of the international cooperation in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.

In the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library the Foundation for Tatarstan historical and cultural monuments restoration presented two major projects: restoration of Sviyazhsk, the first Orthodox town in the Middle Volga Region, and an ancient town of Bolghar – the place of Islam adoption in Volga Region.

On the opening of the exposition in honor of the 80th anniversary of Boris Yeltsin, the first publicly elected President of Russia. The core of the exposition is comprised by the materials on elaboration of “Yeltsin’s” Constitution of 1993 currently in effect.

According to the tradition this morning were held mourning ceremonies of laying wreaths at Piskariovskoye Memorial Cemetery, Victory Square, Serafimovskoye Cemetery and other burial places of Leningrad’s defenders and inhabitants. During the 900 day siege 800 000 citizens died. There was not a single Leningrad’s family which had not lost its members.

On the opening of a virtual affiliate of the Russian Museum and a Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library Electronic Reading Room on the basis of the Russian Information and Culture Center in Azerbaijan.

On the donation to the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library of 118 volumes of the “Public idea library”, issued by the “Russian political encyclopedia” publisher, featuring intellectual achievements of eminent representatives of the Russian society within a thousand-year period of its history.
