9 December 2011 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library signed the co-operative agreement with the Kamchatka Krai S. P. Krasheninnikov Scientific Library. The same day, for all inhabitants of the region, opened its doors the Kamchatka Regional Center of access to the resources of the Presidential Library.
The opening ceremony was attended by I. L. Untilov, President Deputy of the Government of the Kamchatka Krai; S. V. Aigistova, Minister of Culture of the Kamchatka Krai; M. P. Khamlov, Head of the Department of the Agency for informatization of the Government of the Kamchatka Krai; T. V. Zamotaykina, Director of the State Archive of the Kamchatka Krai, other officials.
The Presidential Library Director General Deputy for branches S. M. Makeev addressed the public with a welcome speech. He told about the unique holdings of the Presidential Library, and the program for opening branch offices of the library in the regions.
As a part of the ceremony, the agreement was signed between the Presidential Library and the Kamchatka Krai Scientific Library. The document was signed by S. M. Makeev and B. S. Ivanova, Director of the Krai Library. The agreement will enable to include into the holdings of the Presidential Library the materials on the Kamchatka Krai in order to develop a single informational environment.
Timed to the opening of the Kamchatka Regional Center of Access to the resources of the Presidential Library, the “Kamchatka Krai: pages of history” collection was published at the library’s portal. Travel essays, geographical and historical descriptions, newsreel fragments of 1920-1930s comprising the collection reveal the history of development of the most remote Russian region. The collection also includes the current Statute of the Kamchatka Krai.
In accordance with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation of June 18, 2007 N 326, branches of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library are to be created in all constituent territories of the Russian Federation.
