
International Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases took place at Presidential Library
On December 12-13, 2024, the V International Scientific and Practical Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases took place at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg.
The event was organized by the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being (Rospotrebnadzor), in collaboration with the Russian Anti-Plague Research Institute "Microb" of Rospotrebnadzor, and the St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute of Rospotrebnadzor.
The conference aims to strengthen international cooperation, promote scientific exchange, and enhance the capacity of partner countries in combating infectious diseases.
The opening plenary session was addressed by Anna Popova, the Head of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Russia. A greeting from Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Russian Government, was also delivered.
Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, addressed the participants with a welcome speech.
The V International Scientific and Practical Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases brought together specialists from various countries, including the Russian Federation, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Eastern Europe, the Transcaucasus, Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Representatives from the World Health Organization were also in attendance.
Over the course of two days, participants shared their expertise in preventing and responding to infectious diseases, discussing new methods for epidemiological surveillance and issues related to synthetic biology and population immunity.
