6 February 2015

Multimedia lesson for pupils and students of vocational schools, colleges, as well as a large-scale exhibition, telling about the connection of the facts and the images of history in the works of Russian writers, opened in the Presidential Library.

Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin noted that the exhibition and the lesson are a joint project and the library already has an experience of holding such events. Multimedia lessons including visits to the exhibition timed to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation were held in 2013/2014 academic year. In 2015, we expect that high school students and students of vocational schools and colleges will take an active part in the lessons. Students will come into contact with the documents and materials on the history and development of Russian statehood through the prism of Russian literature.

The exhibition at the Presidential Library shows the diverse way the country's history is reflected in the works of literature covering different historical epochs. As an example there are taken the works of Alexander Pushkin, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Solzhenitsyn, Anna Akhmatova, Olga Bergholz and other classics of Russian literature. The set of "images" and "facts" helps to learn more about the contradictions of the reign of Nicholas II and World War I, the revolution of 1905 and 1917, the Civil War. On the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory great emphasis is placed on the Great Patriotic War.

It was decided not only to develop the content in future, but also to expand the geography of multimedia lessons. It is planned to hold such lessons remotely in various cities of Russia through a network of remote electronic reading rooms and regional centers of the Presidential Library. To date, more than 120 reading rooms and centers are working in 64 regions of the Russian Federation.
