The music of the era of Catherine the Great to be performed at the Presidential Library

The third concert of the musical and educational project "Music of the Russian statehood" - "The Golden Age of Catherine II" will be held on April 13, 2018 at 20:00 in the Presidential Library (Senatskaya Square, 3).

The concert will be dedicated to the music of the era of Peter III and Catherine II, who is called the Great throughout the world.

Peter III played the violin and collected musical instruments. He had a collection of violins, including the instruments of Amati, Steiner and other famous masters, various rarities, such as a Chinese porcelain flute, an amber flute. Music-making accompanied Peter Feodorovich until the last days: even being arrested, he demanded for himself a violin among the few most essential things.

The second part of the concert will be dedicated to Catherine II. Princess Fike in her youth trained singing, then took lessons on the harpsichord. The musical theater flourished at the court of Catherine II. The Empress was particularly fond of funny comic operas. She herself composed operatic librettos, trying to give enlightening purposes to the musical spectacle. Under Catherine II a new genre - vocal chamber music appeared, whose bright representatives - F. Dubyansky and O. Kozlovsky, a Russian choral concert was created M. Berezovsky, a Russian violin school was born, the founder of which is I. Khandoshkin.

"Music of the Russian statehood" is a cycle of ten multimedia concerts accompanied by a fascinating narrative of the famous Russian historian, writer, creator of the project "Russia is My History" Alexander Myasnikov. All events take place in the Presidential Library.

The concert will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library portal in the section “Live broadcast”.

The organizers of the concert cycle are the Foundation of the International Festival of Classical Music "Palaces of St. Petersburg" and the Presidential Library. The project "Music of the Russian statehood" was carried out using the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Foundation for Presidential Grants.

Accreditation for media representatives is available until 16:00, April 12, 2018.

Please, note, that the entrance to the Presidential Library for media representatives is carried out only by prior request and upon showing a passport through the entrance № 2.
