Teacher of the Year - 2017 to give a lesson of the Constitution at the Presidential Library

December 12, 2018 at 15:00 the Presidential Library will host an open lesson of the Constitution. The event will be held within the framework of the project “Video Lecture – to School” which will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library’s portal in “Live Broadcasts” section and in the official group on the VKontakte social network.

The open lesson will be given by the absolute winner of the “Teacher of the Year of Russia - 2017” All-Russian Contest, deputy director of gymnasium № 116 in the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg, teacher of history, law and social studies Ilya Demakov.

Ilya Demakov has visited the Presidential Library more than once. Within the framework of the Knowledge Forum, timed to two significant anniversaries - the centenary anniversary of the RSFSR Constitution of 1918 and the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation of 1993 - he already gave an open lesson of the Constitution on September, 3. The event was attended not only by St. Petersburg schoolchildren, but also by children from the Sirius Educational Center in Sochi, the Artek International Children's Center in Crimea, etc.

Open lesson on December 12 will be a logical continuation of the previous one. Pupils from different regions are invited to participate. Ilya Demakov will tell both about the history of the emergence of various constitutions, and about the essence of constitutionalism, about how important it is to observe the laws of our country.

It is worth to remark that in order to promote knowledge about the Constitution, the Presidential Library regularly holds video lectures, film broadcasts, multimedia lessons and exhibitions. This year, within the framework of the Knowledge Forum, a thematic multimedia exhibition dedicated to the centenary anniversary of the RSFSR Constitution of 1918 and the 25th anniversary of the 1993 Constitution of the Russian Federation was opened.

In addition, three collections devoted to the Basic Law of the country are presented on the Presidential Library’s portal. The first of them - The Constitution - the Basic Law - covers texts of the Constitution of the RSFSR in 1918, the Constitution of the USSR in 1924, 1936 and 1977, as well as the current Constitution. The last is a separate collection History of the development and adoption of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which contains a unique selection of digital copies of official materials, as well as studies, journalism, memoirs, videos related to the work on the document. Finally, the third collection, The Constitution of the Russian Federation, includes official publications of the 1993 Basic Law and amendments to it.

The exhibition hall of the Presidential Library holds the only copy of the inaugural copy of the Constitution, at which the head of the Russian state takes an oath. An electronic copy of this document is available on the library’s portal. At the same time, the Constitution Hall of the Presidential Library can be visited from anywhere in the world thanks to a specially created 3D tour, posted on the Internet resource “Electronic Museum of the Constitutional History of Russia”.
