The Presidential Library welcomes conference dedicated to ten years cooperation with archives

March 25–26, 2019 the Scientific and Practical Conference “Russian Archives and the Presidential Library: 10 Years of Cooperation” will be held at the Presidential Library.

The participants of the event are the heads and leading experts of federal and regional state archives, as well as archival divisions of libraries and museums.

The conference will be opened by the workshop “Scanning Archive Documents: Methods and Practice”. Experts in this field will talk about all the features of digitizing materials.

In the course of the conference, its participants will sum up the results and outline ways of developing the interaction of state archives with the Presidential Library on the formation of a national electronic resource on the history of the formation of Russian statehood. In addition, issues of digitization of archival funds, features of description and provision of archival materials in a network environment, implementation of joint projects, use of exhibition activities to promote digital archival content will be brought up for discussion.

The live broadcast of the event will be available in “Live Broadcasts” section on the portal of the Presidential Library.

It is important to note that the conference will be held in the framework of the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Presidential Library. Currently, the digital collections of the organization has over 770 thousand copies of rare materials, of which more than 360 thousand are archival documents. They are available thanks to a wide network of remote access centers, which are located in all 85 regions of Russia and in more than 30 countries of the world. Today their number is about 900.

The heads and specialists of federal archival institutions, manuscripts and archival divisions of libraries, museums, educational, scientific institutions, public associations and organizations of the federal and regional level are invited to take part in the conference.

Please note that the admittance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by pre-register and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event go through entrance № 1, media representatives go through entrance № 2.
