The Presidential Library welcomes Cosmonautics Day

April 12, 2019 at 10:00 the Presidential Library will host traditional conference and webinar "Cosmonautics Day in the Presidential Library". The event will be attended by young scientists, students and senior pupils of educational institutions of St. Petersburg as well as other cities of Russia via video-conferencing mode.

The conference will focus on the 85th anniversary of the birth of Yuri Gagarin, the 60th anniversary of the start of the Moon exploration, youth initiatives in the field of cosmonautics promotion, the prospects and development of Russian technologies in the field of space exploration.

The participants of the event will meet with T. D. Filatova, the niece of Yuri Gagarin, head of the memorial scientific and methodological department of the Yuri Gagarin United Memorial Museum, will watch a video of Vostok-L launch vehicle with the Luna-1 apparatus, learn about the first "lunar race" of 1958-1960, will discuss the prospects for the use of robotics in space exploration.

The event will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the official group of the Presidential Library "VKontakte".

The Presidential Library’s portal contains Open Space collection, which includes newsreel fragments, periodicals, books, postcards, commemorative medals and badges reflecting various milestones in the development of cosmonautics.

Accreditation of media representatives is available until 12:00, April 11, 2019.
