Young filmmakers to highlight current social problems at the meeting of the Presidential Library’s Cinema Club

13 June 2019

On June 13, 2019 at 4 p.m. the Presidential Library and the Youth Center of the Russian Cinematographers’ Union of St. Petersburg invite you to the regular Cinema Club meeting. This time the theme of the meeting is the responsibility of the younger generation for their lives and understanding of the life around them.

Films of two young directors will be presented to the audience – Touch directed by Olga Golovina and I am Here by Maria Popritsak.

The film Touch explores the reasons why people, who are successful professionally, socially and personally, spend their time and energy to help those who, for various reasons, have to live on the streets. The film is based on the documentary theatrical project The Untouchables, which was staged in St. Petersburg with big success.

I am Here is a documentary film about those, who did not live to be twenty. “You need to shout, even if no one calls. Desperately resist, run, breathe deeply, collapse with exhaustion, dance. Constantly get through the narcotic perspiration, fight with your own body, try to find God. I am Here is an action-film. One day - six characters ... This is a film about the young”, the film’s director Maria Popritsak says about her work.

The Cinema Club meeting will be held in the Presidential Library’s Multimedia Hall: Senate Square, 3.
