The project “We are chased by the Nazis with dogs” to present at the Presidential Library cinema club

28 January 2020

On January 28, 2020, at 15:00 the Presidential Library cinema club will hold the presentation of the multimedia album of children's drawings entitled “We are chased by the Nazis with dogs” and the demonstration of the short documentary and animated film of the same name, based on poems by the six-year-old Alla Aizensharf, who survived the ghetto and horrors of war.

Alla Aizensharf was born in the Ukrainian town of Nemirov. When she was six years old, the World War II began. The town was occupied by the Nazis. Alla’s parents were imprisoned in the ghetto, where her father was killed, and the mother was deported to a concentration camp. Fortunately, the six-year-old girl with her ten-year-old sister Mayra managed to escape. That was the beginning of the times of wandering. They were hiding in the outskirts of Nemirov, first – in a barn of the friends, then in a house of strangers. The children were discovered during the raid, and, like their parents, sent to the ghetto. The girls were liberated only in March 1944.

Alla Aizensharf kept the memory of these events all life through. She became a poet, author of 17 collections of poems, moved to Israel ... She said in her memoirs: “Due to the war I and sister Marechka occurred into the street. Father has been killed during the pogrom; mother is far away in a concentration camp. A parental home - a recent fairy tale - stands as it stood before. But there are Germans. And we, holding hands, wander and wander the streets of Nemirov - two hungry hunted girls. ”

The project was arranged by the Eva St. Petersburg Charitable Organization in cooperation with the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts Humanitarian Cultural Foundation. Seven and a half decades after the events, young Petersburg artists and painters illustrated verses by Alla Aizensharf and created a unique album, and then its “animated” version. These materials can be found in the section "Defenders of the Fatherland: Living Memory" of the large "Memory of the Great Victory" collection on the Presidential library portal.

The cinema club program includes the presentation of the album of children's drawings based on the verses of Alla Aizensharf, and then the short documentary-animated film “We Are Chased by the Nazis with Dogs”, which became the winner of the “You Are Not Alone” All-Russian film festival and the winner of the “KinoTok 2019” international film contest . The audience will take part in the discussion after acknowledgment of these outstanding works. Each participant of the cinema club will receive the album of children's drawings as a gift.

That event also arranged by the Eva St. Petersburg Charitable Organization in cooperation with the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts Humanitarian Cultural Foundation. It is marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, established by the UN in 2005. On January 27, 1945, the Red Army liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The cinema club meeting will take place in the multimedia hall of the Presidential Library at Senate Square, 3.

We invite you to participate in the event, ask questions or share an opinion on the results of the cinema club meeting. We look forward to interesting, informative dialog. Besides, the event will be live broadcast on the Presidential Library portal.
