The relevance of Alexander Griboyedov’s works in the spotlight of the Presidential Library

On February 12, 2020, at 11:30 a video lecture from the Knowledge of Russia series will be held at the Presidential Library, timed to coincide with the 225th anniversary of the outstanding Russian diplomat, poet, playwright and composer Alexander Griboyedov (1795–1829). The event will be broadcasted live on the library’s portal, in the official group on the VKontakte social network and on the institution’s YouTube channel.

Dmitry Bogach, Cand. Sc. Philology, senior researcher at the South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University of Chelyabinsk, will address the guests of the Presidential Library via video conferencing mode. He will talk about Griboyedov’s oeuvre through the prism of modern cultural values, about the relevance of the works of the classic today.

Video materials will be also shown as part of the video lecture. They are:

- the film “The Second Life of Khmelita” 2019, presented by employees of the former Griboyedovs’ estate in the village of Khmelita (Smolensk Region), which today houses the Khmelita State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve;

- videos of the anniversary events of the Griboyedov school № 1529 (Moscow), dedicated to the writer, which were held in January 2020 and were transferred by the administration of the educational institution.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the updated electronic collection dedicated to Griboyedov, which gives an idea of ​​his life and work. The collection includes books, magazines, archival documents, literary-critical, biographical, visual and other interesting materials.

Accreditation of media representatives is until February 11, 2020 at 11:00.

The letter should include the name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact numbers, name of the media.

We draw the attention of media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Admission to the Presidential Library is possible only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: media representatives go through the entrance № 2; participants and guests of the event go through the entrance № 1.
