Marking the 200th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoevsky: the Presidential Library to consider the image of youth in the writer’s oeuvre

July 8, 2021, at 11:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library, as part of the Knowledge of Russia project, will host a video lecture entitled "Russian boys and girls of Dostoevsky: early philanthropists and abandoned youth". This is the sixth event in the series of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk about Values", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world famous writer, which will be celebrated on November 11, 2021.

The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the live events program and on the institution's YouTube channel.

Within the framework of the video lecture, Dmitry Bogach, Candidate of Philology, Senior Researcher of the South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University, will consider the topic of abandoned youth using the example of Fyodor Dostoevsky's novels. The participants in the video lecture will learn why the classic paid much attention to the images of young people in his works, focusing on the problems of their lives and also noted the importance of education, parental attention and love for the formation and development of a healthy personality.

The Presidential Library’s materials illustrate Fyodor Dostoevsky. They are presented in the special digital collection Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881) [The World of Dostoevsky]. It includes copies of the texts of the writer's works and materials about his life and oeuvre.

The cycle of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk About Values" was launched on February 19, 2021.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
