Byzantine Choice of Rus’, False Tsar and A Hero of Our Time available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, marking Day of Christianization of Rus’, which is celebrated on July 28, the Presidential Library will be showing the video lectures Foreign Policy of Prince Vladimir the Holy on the Eve of Christianization of Rus’ and Byzantine Choice of Rus’. Users will have opportunity to learn about the reasons that prompted the Kiev Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavovich to decide in favor of choosing Orthodoxy as the state religion.

In addition, thanks to online broadcasts, during the week of July 26-30, one can learn more about the Time of Troubles at the beginning of the 17th century and recall the "false tsar" - False Dmitry I. Another historical lecture will tell about the main aspects of state and social policy of Catherine the Great.

On the eve and directly on the 180th anniversary of the tragic death of the famous Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov, the Presidential Library’s portal will be showing the film Bela, filmed more than a century ago, in 1913, by director (he also played the main role) Andrei Gromov based on the chapter of the same name from the novel A Hero of Our Time.
