The Presidential Library will hold a cinema club meeting with the screening of the documentaries by the participants of the II International Film Festival "Under the Protection of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God" on October 7, 2021, at 11:00. The representation of the intangible heritage of Russia is one of the most significant activities of the Presidential Library's cinema club.

In 2021, the Film Festival marks the 800th anniversary of St. Prince Alexander Nevsky. This year's themes are: God dwells not in strength, but in truth and From the East to the West.

The event will be attended by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mstislav, Bishop of Tikhvin and Lodeynoye Pole, Viktor Pravdyuk, the Jury Chairman, prominent film director, historian and journalist, jury members, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and authorities, journalists, cinema and public figures, etc.

The cinema club will provide screenings of three films - participants in the film festival contest program.

The film We Get Experience from the Heaven by Leonid Gluchayev talks about the traditional theological contest for children from Sunday schools of the Vilensk-Lithuanian Eparchy and the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ of Alexander-Svirsky Monastery's town church in St. Petersburg on the topic of the Church sacraments.

The film Aunt Katya directed by Nadezda Arzamastseva, Bela Smetanina and Victoria Leontieva, tells about the selfless service of an outstanding person Yekaterina Grachyova, the founder of Russian therapeutic pedagogy. After the marvellous recovery of the sick brother and the miraculous appearance of the Most Holy Theotokos to him, Yekaterina Grachyova (1866-1934) devoted all her life to children with multiple health disorders and organized the first shelter of this kind in Russia. Her practical advice and experience of Christian care for children with disabilities are still relevant. The cinema club participants will learn about the modern treatment of people with disabilities at the Blagodat' shelter in the village of Vorobyetsovo in Ivanovo Region and the Charitable Foundation of St. Matrona of Moscow and the centre of foster families Umileniye of the Orthodox Children's Mission Charitable Foundation in St. Petersburg.

The documentary The Temple of Savior on Sennaya Square. Revival directed by Anastasia Bar will tell the story of the lost Church of the Assumption of Mother of God. The temple was located in St. Petersburg on Sennaya Square and was known as the Church of the Savior on Sennaya. The restoration of this temple began in 2011. The builders had a task to open the asphalt square and determine the approximate location of the cathedral. They discovered that the ancient foundation was not destroyed and the most sacred site of the cathedral - an altar, was preserved. Not far from the altar was the hidden entrance to the church's cellars, the burial place of priests and noble parishioners. In 2014, the authorities recognized the temple's foundation as a cultural heritage site of regional importance. Now, all kinds of work are prohibited in this place, except for the site improvement and restoration of the temple's building.

The International Film Festival "Under the Protection of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God" represents professional and amateur films that spotlight the history, spiritual traditions, holy places and the culture of the native land. The geography of the film festival is the whole world, but it starts in Leningrad Region.
