The Presidential Library provides online broadcasts of films, video lectures and webinars

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, on the eve of and on January 18, marking the 79th anniversary of the breaking the siege of Leningrad, the film "Leningradka", dedicated to the memory of the poet, prose writer and journalist Olga Bergholz, will be shown on the library's portal. This film can be called "the confession of the daughter of the century" - documents, archival radio recordings and personal diaries of Olga Bergholz tell about the dramatic fate of the Muse of besieged Leningrad.

Thanks to the broadcast of the video lecture “The siege tram: in the struggle for the life of the city”, visitors to the Presidential Library’s portal will learn about the work of electric transport in Leningrad during the years of the siege; about the memory of employees who worked in the difficult conditions of the besieged city preserved, about the development of the Leningrad tram in the 1930s.

The documentary-historical film "Winter Palace" in the context of the revolutionary events of 1917 tells about the life of Nicholas II and his family in the imperial residence, about the history of the palace during the First World War, about the work of the Provisional Government, about the storming of the Winter Palace during the October Revolution.

The webinar "Russian Writers in the Public Service" will focus on the life and career of Gavriil Derzhavin, Vasily Zhukovsky, Alexander Griboyedov and Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin as government officials. Archives, biographical and literary studies, as well as diary entries and letters from famous writers themselves will be presented.

A video recording of the informational and methodological webinar “Dmitry Mendeleev (185th Birth Anniversary), which tells about materials from the collection of the Dmitry Mendeleev Museum-Archive at St. Petersburg State University and the influence that Mendeleev’s scientific interests influenced on the formation of his personal library will be available. A review of sources about Dmitry Mendeleev in the Presidential Library's collections includes popular science works about the scientist's life, archival materials from the Department of Public Education, rough drafts of the periodic system, as well as his books and articles.

Lovers of history and history of cinema in particular, will certainly be interested in the silent feature film "Vadim", filmed in 1910 by one of the Russian pioneers of the film industry, Pyotr Chardynin, based on the unfinished historical novel of the same name by Mikhail Lermontov. The events take place during the Peasant War of 1773-1775 under the leadership of Emelyan Pugachev.

A video lecture “Ivan III in the Russian Chronicles of the Time of His Reign” will be broadcast as part of the Presidential Library project video lecture Knowledge of Russia. It is timed to coincide with the 582nd anniversary of the birth of the Grand Prince of Moscow, “Sovereign of All Russia” and “collector of Russian lands”.
