
The Presidential Library’s portal provides film screenings online
The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.
In accordance with the broadcast schedule, on June 18, 2022, the users of the Presidential Library’s portal will be shown four film screenings at once.
The documentary "Egypt on the banks of the Neva" has been formed at the Lennauchfilm film studio. The historical storyline of the film is dedicated to the comparison of the fates of two reformers on the throne: the Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep IV and the Russian emperor Peter I. The story of the Egyptian monuments and sculptures of St. Petersburg is fulfilled with the sphinxes on the Neva embankment, the "Fountain of Witches" on the Pulkovo Highway, the Egyptian Gate in Tsarskoye Selo.
In turn, the film "Chronicles of the Nubian Expedition" shows a significant period in the history of Russian archeology, the beginning of complex expeditions to the countries of the Middle East. The film reveals the history of the first expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences, which worked in Egypt in 1961-1963, and tells about modern archaeological research.
In addition, documentaries about St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region from the "The Silver Ring of Russia" cycle will be shown on the Presidential Library's portal. The films are created by the staff of the newspaper "Petersburg Diary". The main goal of the “The Silver Ring of Russia” video project is to show the beauty and possibilities of each region of the North-West to the fullest extent possible for bright, active recreation and travel. The authors of the films captured unique monuments of history and culture, as well as the most interesting natural objects, including those included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. At the 19th Northwest Media Forum “The Silver Ring of Russia” media expedition became the winner of the SeZaM-2021 award in the Project of the Year nomination.
One has opportunity to watch these films not only on the Presidential Library’s portal, but also in the multimedia hall of the institution located on Senate Square, 3. Film broadcast schedule: “Egypt on the banks of the Neva” and “Chronicles of the Nubian Expedition” - 15:00; documentary films from “The Silver Ring of Russia” cycle - 17:00. Access to the Presidential Library will be carried out with the badge of the SPIEF-2022 participant.
On the eve of an important state holiday – Russia Day - a documentary "I Appeal to the President" will be shown on the library's portal. The film is about a single information space for dealing with appeals to the President of the Russian Federation, about the activities of the Office of the President for dealing with appeals, about a three-level system of the Reception of the President of the Russian Federation (receptions in the centers of federal districts, receptions in the constituent entities of Russia, electronic reception terminals).
The film "Laurentian Chronicle. The Birth of Russian Statehood” is dedicated to one of the oldest Russian written monuments. In the year of the 1150th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood, a joint project of the National Library of Russia, the Presidential Library and the Public Foundation "Center of National Glory of Russia" has been implemented to digitize and provide free access to an electronic copy of the Laurentian Chronicle. The film highlights the stages of preparation and implementation of the project to digitize the manuscript.
The film of the same name of the Presidential Library, which is one of the nationwide electronic repositories of Russia, is dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage in digital form. The film shows the process of restoration of cultural monuments on paper, gives a general idea of the phase conservation, tells about information insurance technologies.
The film "The Presidential Library" tells about the history of the emergence and functioning of the Presidential Library, introduces the history of the building it houses, as well as the electronic collections and exhibition halls. The film screening will be accompanied by a video highlighting the main activities of the Presidential Library as a nationwide electronic repository of digital copies of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, the Russian language, and also as a multimedia multifunctional center.
The authors of the film “Senatskaya, 3” paid special attention to the history of the building of the Holy Synod, which today houses the Presidential Library, as well as the history of the Holy Synod itself, the church authority formed under Peter I. Leading experts in history and archeology were involved in the film about Petersburg of the imperial period.
As part of the video lecture “106 Minutes of Yuri Gagarin: Declassified Details of the First Space Flight”, writer and journalist Anton Pervushin will tell about the little-known facts of the first flight into low Earth orbit. Thanks to the film "Cosmonautics in the USSR" on newsreels one has opportunity to see Yuri Gagarin, Sergei Korolev, German Titov, Valentina Tereshkova, Alexei Leonov, Georgy Beregovoy.
