Films and video lectures available online on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

August 1 marks the 95th anniversary of Leningrad Region. The Presidential Library’s film Capital City will be shown in accordance with the broadcast program. The film tells about the archeological digs on the territory of Staraya Ladoga, conducted by the specialists of the History of Material Culture Institute of RAS under the supervision of the famous scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences Anatoly Kirpichnikov, that allowed to discover new pages of Russian history. The film is based on Kirpichnikov’s conception of Staraya Ladoga being “the ancient capital of Northern Rus’”.

On the eve of August 5, the 26th anniversary since the day of the establishment of the official symbols of Presidential power in the Russian Federation, a documentary film will be shown. It will tell about the history of the Standart (Flag) of the President of the Russian Federation and the Sign of the President of the Russian Federation, about the special copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Presidential inauguration procedure, as well as the establishment of the State Heraldic Agency. Chief Heraldmaster of Russia, Chairman of the Heraldic Council of the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Vilinbakhov participated in the creation of the film as one of the experts.

The film Senatskaya, 3 tells about the history of the establishment of the Presidential Library, one of the three national libraries of the Russian Federation. A special attention was paid by the film’s creators to the history of the building of the Most Holy Synod, where the Presidential Library is currently located, as well as the history of the Most Holy Synod itself, a church governing body, founded during the reign of Peter I.

Little-know details of the Russian fleet’s victory in the Battle of Gangut of 1714 will be available to users, thanks to the screening of a lecture within the educational project of the Presidential Library video lecture Knowledge of Russia.

Another video lecture The Train Rushes in an Open Field will reveal the early history of the railway construction in Russia.

In its turn, the documentary film Krasnoyarsk Road. In the footsteps of the Russian Pioneers of the cycle Russia from the Train Window tells about the expedition around the Krasnoyarsk Railway Road and Southern Siberia.

The Presidential Library’s webinar will be dedicated to the first Russian circumnavigation of the globe, conducted by Ivan Krusenstern and Yuri Lisyansky, the geographical researches of the Russian discoverers, as well as to the history of the establishment of interstate relations between Russia and other countries in the XVIII-XIX centuries.
