Films, video lectures available online on the Presidential library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, on the eve of and on August 18, on the day of the 240th anniversary of the grand opening of the monument to Peter the Great on Senate Square in St. Petersburg, a video film The most intentional city is a monument created by the state will be shown. The film, prepared by the specialists of the Presidential Library, is dedicated to the history of the foundation and development of the historical center of St. Petersburg in the period from 1703 to the 1820s. The film in its original and digitized form features city maps of the 18th-19th centuries, copies of archival documents, books and periodicals dedicated to the history of St. Petersburg and urban planning in Russia

The film Borderland, also prepared by the Presidential Library, tells about Bryansk Region. On the territory of the Desna River basin and the Russian Plain, unique archaeological sites have been discovered - the villages of Yudinovo and Khotylevo. These are the only sources for studying the life of the people of Bryansk Region from the Middle Paleolithic to the time of the formation of the Old Russian state. The film also tells about the most ancient Russian cities in this territory: Bryansk, Vshchizh, Starodub, Pochep, Mglin. The main "object" of the film is the Bryansk State Museum of Local Lore.

Thanks to a video tour on the Presidential Library’s portal, without leaving home, it will be possible to visit the exhibition The Glorious Year of the People's War, dedicated to the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 over the French troops led by Napoleon. Particular attention is paid to archival documents, illustrated editions, popular prints, Russian and French cartoons.

On the occasion of the 117th anniversary of the signing by Nicholas II of the manifesto on the establishment of the State Duma in Russia, the Presidential Library provides a unique opportunity to see the first and only documentary filming of the opening of the first convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Empire and the State Council on April 27, 1906 in the Georgievsky throne room of the Winter Palace. The priceless newsreel, recreated and digitized by Russian specialists, was transferred to the Presidential Library by the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents. It captures all the main moments of the state ceremonial of the Russian Empire.

A video lecture will be devoted to resistance to enemies in the occupied Soviet territory during the Great Patriotic War, presented as part of the educational project of the Presidential Library’s video lecture Knowledge of Russia.

Little-known facts about political repressions in the USSR in the 1930s-1950s became the basis of the documentary film Pray to God for Us, which will be shown on the Presidential Library's portal.
