About the victory near Stalingrad. A new exhibition opened at the Presidential Library

The Presidential Library from February 2 to March 7, 2023 hosts the multimedia exhibition “Unconquered Stalingrad. Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad”.

The exposition features materials of the Presidential Library’s collections from the Collection of Digitized Archival Documents, film and photo materials “The Second World War in Archival Documents”, the electronic collection Memory of the Great Victory and the multimedia exhibition The Great Patriotic War, which determined the outcome of World War II. Marking the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

Unprecedented in its significance, scope and tension, the battle for Stalingrad lasted 200 days and nights. The battle that changed history and turned the tide of the entire Second World War began on July 17, 1942 and ended with the complete victory of the Soviet troops on February 2, 1943.

At different times, the troops of the South-Western, Stalingrad, South-Eastern, Don, left wing of the Voronezh fronts, the Volga military flotilla and the Stalingrad air defence corps area participated in the Battle of Stalingrad at different times.

The materials presented in the exposition tell how the victory at Stalingrad was forged day by day. Declassified documents and operational reports are devoted to the situation at the front; German aerial photographs depicting tank battles. Leaflets, posters and newspaper clippings reflect the mood that prevailed in the city in the days when faith in victory became stronger than the fear of death. On the frames of the photo and newsreel - the command and soldiers of the Soviet army, who did everything possible to destroy the enemy.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
