15–31 March 2023

The Presidential Library’s portal broadcasts films and video lectures prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as video films by leading domestic film and TV studios. Their display is timed to memorable and significant dates as well as major events in the Presidential Library. We invite you to learn about the most outstanding film screenings of the second half of March.

On the eve of the Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia, which is celebrated on March 18, a film about one of the sights of the Crimean peninsula will be shown on the Presidential Library’s portal. The film "M. S. Vorontsov Memorial Library: what is hidden behind the spines of the books of the Vorontsov Palace" tells about a unique collection of books on history, geography, military affairs, agriculture, numerous dictionaries, reference books, encyclopedias and periodicals, which was collected by more than one generation and has more than ten thousand volumes, as well as the cooperation of the Alupka Museum-Reserve with the Presidential Library in digitizing the unique book collections of the M. S. Vorontsov Library, thanks to which it will be available to a wide range of readers.

The presentation of the video film of the Presidential Library “Foreign words”” in the poetry of Alexander Pushkin”, dedicated to foreign borrowings in the Russian language, is timed to coincide with the World Poetry Day. Why did Tatyana write her letter in French, and what kind of "wild state" of the Russian language does Pushkin speak to Vyazemsky? How was the modern Russian language formed and what role did Pushkin play in this? Consonance with the current situation - an abundance of borrowings from the English language - makes this video interesting to everyone who is interested in the history of the Russian language and literature.

The Presidential Library’s portal also features a video lecture by Galina Sedova, head of the Pushkin Memorial Apartment Museum in St. Petersburg, dedicated to the mysteries of the poet's genius.

Another lecture from the Knowledge of Russia cycle will portray Konstantin Nikolayevich Batyushkov, whose work had a great influence on the young lyceum student Alexander Pushkin.

Thanks to the broadcasts on the Presidential Library’s portal, it will be possible to visit Vologda Oblast and see the famous Ferapontov Mother of God-Nativity Monastery, founded in the 15th century and painted by an artel of artists led by the famous master Dionysius. Or go to Novgorod Region to see the frescoes of the Church of the Assumption on the Volotovo field, decorated with wall paintings in the middle of the XIV century, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Kovalev - one of the small monasteries that existed on donations from rich and noble residents of the city, the Church of the Savior on Nereditsa, built in the twelfth century. Films prepared by specialists of the Presidential Library tell about these unique monuments of history and architecture.

The film-trilogy "State symbols of Russia", filmed at the Lendok studio, is dedicated to the history of the creation and development of the state symbols of the country. In the genre of popular science films, the authors talk about the thousand-year history of Russia through the theme of heraldic continuity. The first film - "The Coat of Arms of Russia" - tells the story of the formation of a heraldic sign from Ancient Rus' to modern Russia. The second part of the trilogy - "The Flag of Russia" - tells about the formation of the state flag from the 13th to the 20th century. The third film - "Hymn of Russia" introduces the three-hundred-year history of the tradition of singing hymns.

Also, the users will be able to see the film “The State Residence of the President of Russia. The Grand Kremlin Palace" created within the framework of the "Presidential Chronicle" project. The film tells about a unique monument of architecture and history of Russia. The Kremlin Palace served as the main Moscow imperial residence.
