Presidential Library invites to conference dedicated to end of Second World War

On October 22, 2025, at 10:00, the Presidential Library will host the opening of the All-Russian Scientific Conference 1945 – The Year of the Great Victory: Marking the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Russian Military Historical Society and aims to preserve historical memory and counteract the falsification of history.

The conference will focus on the key events of 1945, which resulted in the liberation of humanity from the threat of fascism and Nazism. On September 2, 1945, World War II came to an end. Thanks to the heroic actions of the Red Army, Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire were defeated, the independence of the states of Europe and Asia was restored, and their national borders and sovereignty were preserved.

The following topics are planned to be discussed at the conference:

– military operations of the Soviet Union in 1945;

– The Nuremberg Trials: the trial of Nazi criminals;

– the diplomatic front: from Yalta to Potsdam;

– historical memory of the Great Victory.

The Presidential Library attaches great importance to preserving historical memory. In collaboration with the Federal Archival Agency, a collection of digitized archival documents, film and photographic materials has been compiled since 2020 World War II in Archival Documents. The volume of the collection currently exceeds 17,000 items, including maps, diagrams, periodicals, photographs, and newsreels covering the period from January 1933 to June 1945. Archival materials posted on the Presidential Library's portal are accessible from anywhere in the world.

The letter should contain the full name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact phone numbers, the name of the media.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
