The Day of the Arctic at the Presidential Library

Conference-webinar "Day of the Arctic in the Presidential Library" will take place 3, Senate Square, February 27, 2015. This event will be one of the key scientific and educational events dedicated to the development of the northern territories. Experts, young scientists and students will speak at the conference. The Presidential Library website will be broadcasting the event live. It will start at 10.00.

"Day of the Arctic in the Presidential Library" is an educational project, which contributes to the formation of modern information base on the development of the Arctic territories. The event will discuss the preservation of cultural heritage within the Arctic Circle, environmental safety, the development of the Northern Sea Route and innovative development of the Arctic territories. It will also consider the strategic areas of sustainable development of the Arctic regions of the Republic of Sakha. Most lectures will be delivered by young researchers from the Siberian Federal University.

The conference involves an online communication with the Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, Arkhangelsk, Syktyvkar, Ukhta, Murmansk, Omsk and Vladivostok. Heads of the subjects of the Arctic territories are going to join the event. It is worth noting that many regions have signed a cooperation agreement with the Presidential Library and currently they are actively developing the partnership.

In addition, the Presidential Library makes available the materials on the history of Arctic exploration and research works on the Northern Sea Route. The history of the Russian statehood is the main landmark of Presidential Library, which numbers today more than 370,000 units.

"Day of the Arctic" has become a traditional event in late February at the site of the Presidential Library. The aim of the project is to promote Russian science, culture and education in the Arctic states, support the positive image of the country in the states of the circumpolar region, popularize Arctic researches in the framework of development of educational activities in line with global trends, as well as to promote, support and strengthen the position of the Russian language, to introduce the informational component in the development of the Arctic strategy of the Russian Federation; to consolidate the Arctic as a zone of peaceful interaction and cooperation.
