From February 2 to May 29, 2015 in the framework the Year of Literature announced in Russian, the Presidential Library launches a unique educational project - multimedia lessons of literature for high school students on the "Images of Russian history in the works of Russian writers."

Such classes will help popularize knowledge of literature and history of Russia, will raise the interest of students in culture of their country and its historical heritage. Particular attention will be focused on the literary works telling about the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the formation and flourishing of the Russian Empire in the 18th – early 20th century, the Patriotic War of 1812, the socio-economic and socio-political development of Russia in the 19th - early 20th century.

As part of the lesson, students will visit an exhibition specially developed for multimedia lessons, which will be featuring materials about the famous Russian writers and their works, as well as the creative legacy of modern writers. Students will learn about different, often contradictory interpretations of historical events, people, phenomena in fiction, the reasons for which writers appealed to the Russian history.

In the reading room, participants will be offered a creative task - to prepare a presentation on a literary theme using materials from the collections of the Presidential Library.

Earlier, the Presidential Library already held multimedia lessons for students. The first such educational project was timed to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and took place from December 2013 to May 2014. During this time, multimedia lessons were attended by more than 3,500 high school students from 80 schools in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.
