An information about 80 thousand Soviet people who died in Austria during the Second World War will be disclosed in the Presidential Library

A presentation of the book entitled “The Soviet citizens, who died in Austria during the Second World War, and their burial places. The memory book” will take place on March 21, 2017, in the Presidential Library. The organized of the event are the Public Youth Movement for the creation of the Youth Parliament of St. Petersburg and the Austrian-Russian Friendship Society of Western Styria with the support of the “The Russian Peace Foundation” International Public Fund and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The event will be aired live on the Presidential Library website at 3 pm.

“The memory Book” is a unique project of the Russian-Austrian commission of historians. The publication consists of two volumes and provides documentary information about the names and the graves places of about 80,000 of Soviet citizens buried in Austria. This worthy monument to these people enables their relatives and descendants to obtain information about their destinies and also serves as a patriotic education of the younger generation and for the preservation of memory of Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

Welcoming speaking appearances of the representatives of the State Duma of the 7th convocation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, members of the Government of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast, veterans of the Great Patriotic War will be delivered within the framework of this event. Guests will see a documentary for the purpose of informing journalists and participants with the process of creating the Book of Memory. A performance of the Orchestra of the North-Western District Headquarters of the Red Star National Guard of the Russian Federation and the leading soloists of St. Petersburg is also on the agenda.
