Public lecturing of the Presidential Library reviles the unique flora and fauna of Lake Baikal

A video lecture from the “Knowledge of Russia” series on the “The Baikal Conservation Aria” theme will take place on March 15, 2017, in the Presidential Library. The event will begin at 1 pm and will broadcast live on the library website.

Irina Kozyr, PhD in biological sciences, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Baikal State National Park and Museum, will tell about the nature of the protected areas of the Baikal region and their inhabitants and the focus arias of the Baikal Recreation Area.

Among the participants of the lecturing are the St. Petersburg school students, including the prizewinners and awardees of the district stage of the All-Russian Ecology Olympiad for the school students.

Within the framework of the events timed to the Year of Ecology, announced in Russia in 2017, the Presidential Library also began to create an electronic collection dedicated to the problems of preserving the natural environment. The archival documents, illustrations and other materials, related to the protected and recreation areas of Russia, ways of solving regional and global environmental problems will be published in open access on the Presidential Library website. It is expected that the electronic collection will include materials of regional photo exhibitions and publications prepared within the framework of the main events of the Year of Ecology.

Presentation of the electronic collection “Natural Environment of Russia,” as well as the opening of a thematic exhibition in the exposition halls of the Presidential Library, is scheduled for September 1, 2017.

Media accreditation for the event in the Presidential Library is compulsory and carried out until 12 pm on March 14, 2017.
