The Presidential Library video lecture will tell about the writer Maxim Gorky and the myths surrounding him

March 28, 2018 the Presidential Library will host a video lecture from the cycle "Knowledge of Russia" on the theme "Maxim Gorky: personality, destiny, heritage", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth. The event will begin at 12:00 Moscow time and will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library portal.

Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of the History of Russian Literature of the St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Guskov will tell listeners about the significance of Gorky's personality and creativity in the history of Russian culture. In addition, the scientist on the basis of modern scientific data will challenge some stereotyped ideas about the writer.

The participants of the video lecture will be students of the Faculty of Philology of the St. Petersburg State University, the philological faculty of the A. S. Pushkin Leningrad State University, the Faculty of Culture of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions, the Peter the Great Humanities Institute of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, as well as students of the upper grades of the D. K. Faddeev Academic Gymnasium.

Please, note, that the entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only upon prior request and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event go through entrance № 1, representatives of the media go through entrance № 2.
