Vasily Zhukovsky (1783–1852)

The collection is timed to coincide with the 240th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian poet, translator, mentor of Alexander II, author of the lyrics of the national anthem of the Russian Empire “God Save the Tsar!” Vasily Andreyevich Zhukovsky. The collection includes his works, archival documents, studies of the poet’s life and oeuvre, diaries and correspondence, as well as materials on perpetuation of his memory.

Materials from the holdings of the Russian State Historical Archive, the Russian State Library, the Arkhangelsk Regional Research Library, the Belgorod State Universal Research Library, the Gorky Vladimir Regional Universal Library, the Krupskaya Moscow Regional State Research Library, the Samara Regional Universal Research Library, the St. Petersburg State University, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia, the Children’s Postcard Museum, the Penza State Local History Museum, the Russian Institute of Art History were used in preparing the collection.
