Alexander Ostrovsky (1823–1886)

The collection is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the remarkable Russian playwright, corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky (1823-1886). The collection features official documents, archival materials, abstracts of theses, articles, periodicals, research papers, visual materials dedicated to the life and work of the playwright, as well as to the preservation and perpetuation of his memory.

The holdings of the Gorky Vladimir Regional Universal Research Library, the Don State Public Library, the Krupskaya Moscow Regional State Research Library, the Pushkin Omsk State Regional Research Library, the Samara Regional Universal Research Library, the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, St. Petersburg State University, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia, the New Art Theatre (Chelyabinsk), the Ozersk Drama and Comedy Theatre “Our House” (Chelyabinsk Region), the Children’s Postcard Museum, as well as of private collectors were used in forming the collection.
