Russia - Serbia: from the history of relationship

Russia - Serbia: from the history of relationship

The structure of the collection includes sections with the texts of Serbian legislative acts, various stages of the history of relations between our states from ancient times to the present, and others. The formation of socio-political, economic and cultural ties between our countries has always been facilitated by belonging to the Orthodox tradition. For example, one of the works describes the life of St Sava, the first Archbishop of Serbia, honoured in both Churches. In many wars Russia and Serbia repeatedly acted as allies: the commander of one of the Russian armies, P. V. Chichagov, wrote to the ruler of Serbia about the defeat of Napoleon's troops at the Berezina River with the participation of Serbian formations. A small subsection is dedicated to the wars of the Russian Empire and Serbia with Turkey, where you can read, for example, the publication Russians and Serbs in the War of 1876 for Christian Independence and others. The collection also includes the works of Russian Slavophiles N. Y. Danilevsky, K. N. Leontiev, who studied the ideas of pan-Slavism, philosophical and cultural approach.

Especially interesting is the section "Economic relations". It presents the Civil and Commercial Statutes of the Principality of Serbia of the 19th century, archival documents of the First and Second World Wars, modern official agreements, protocols and memoranda related to the granting of loans to Serbia, oil and gas supplies, which tell about bilateral trade and economic co-operation.

The collection is based on digitized documents from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire, the Central Naval Archive, the Central Naval Library of the Ministry of Defence, the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian State Library, the State Public Historical Library, the State-Political Library of Russia, Moscow Regional State Scientific Library, libraries of the A.
