Regions of Russia: Exhibition “The Time and Burden of Changes: The Chronology of Formation of the Republic of Tatarstan during 1918-1920” underway in Kazan

The Museum of the History of Statehood of Tatar People and the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan) is holding an exhibition “The Time and Burden of Changes. The Chronology of Formation of the Republic of Tatarstan during 1918-1920” which will be open until October 1, 2018.

The exhibition aims to cast the light on the hardest period in the history of Russia, the regional aspect of the history of Volga region, the consequences of the collapse of the former political system on the wave of revolutionary events, general political instability, and the chaos of the Civil War. Along with it, that short period was a time of extraordinary activity and the rise of various political forces, the time of opportunities, when one by one emerged projects visualizing the future on the territory of Volga region and the former Kazan Governorate, such as the Idel-Ural State or the Tatar-Bashkir Republic. The exhibition gives a chance to follow the process of the formation of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic against the background of multifaceted events that took place in our country in the early 20th century.

The exhibition showcases a wide range of archival documents and photographs, posters and newspapers, brochures and books which give an insight into the key developmental stages of the Tatar socio-political movement and development of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic during 1918-1920.
