Society and Culture: 2nd International Conference “Exploration of works of art and objects of cultural and historical heritage. New technologies and their application” in St. Petersburg

The 2nd International Conference “Exploration of works of art and objects of cultural and historical heritage. New technologies and their application” will run in the Marble Palace (The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg) from July 25 to July 27, 2018.

The modern comprehensive approach to the preservation and study of cultural heritage implies joint efforts of specialists in different fields of scientific knowledge - chemists, physicists, biologists, architects, art historians, sociologists, restorers and a widespread use of nondestructive testing technologies in the examination of paintings, architecture, applied arts and archeological artifacts. The technologies enable to accurately assess the preservation state of an item, its formal characteristics and production technologies, contribute to control of restoration processes and the item’s  detailed observation.
