Memory of Russia: Exhibition marking the centenary of death of Emperor Nicholas II and his family opened in Pskov

25 July 2018

The Pskov Museum Reserve has launched an exhibition in honor of the centenary of death of Emperor Nicholas II and his family.

Within the framework of the memorial dates calendar, the staff of the historical department of the Pskov Museum Reserve have prepared an exhibition timed to coincide with one of the most dramatic events in the Russian history. One hundred years ago on the night of July 16 – 17, 1918 the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family were murdered in Yekaterinburg.

The tragedy took place far away from Pskov, but the authors of the exhibition tried to highlight the events which happened in Pskov during the reign of Nicholas II. First and foremost, this is the arrival of the Emperor and some of his family members in Pskov in August 1903 and the grand celebration of the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov in 1913.

On display are documentary photographs, memorial medals and publications marking the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov and other items from the collections of the Pskov Museum Reserve.
