Taschen - one of the leading European publishing houses headquartered in Cologne - has published a book featuring the collection of autographs by celebrated artists and scientists ranging from Michelangelo to famous artists of the 20th century.

The album presents examples of Paul Gauguin’s and Vincent van Gogh’s handwriting, a New Year’s card from Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock, Michelangelo’s sketches for a marble order for his commission in Florence, a document on the purchase of Francisco Goya’s six works by a Spanish Duke.

The book’s author, Christine Nelson, is the curator of literary and historical manuscripts at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City, where pieces of Corrêa do Lago’s collection were recently on display. The art historian has selected 140 examples to include in The Magic of Handwriting.
