Memorial Dates of Russia: 2019 has been declared the Year of Daniil Granin, events in commemoration of the writer’s centenary to be held countrywide

The Russian Book Union jointly with the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Media (Rospechat) suggested to the President of Russia that 2019 should be announced the Year of Daniil Granin. On December 21, 2017 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed an Executive Order “On Perpetuating the Memory of Daniil Granin and Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of his Birth”.

The Organizing Committee for Perpetuating the Memory, Preparing and Holding Celebrations of the Writer’s 100th Anniversary of Birth was set up in accordance with the Order and on instructions of the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. Its members are book-industry professionals, celebrated writers, cultural workers and state authorities. 

The Year of Daniil Granin’s Centenary will be inaugurated on February 9, 2019 in St. Petersburg.
