History and Culture: Theoretical and Practical Conference “Icons of Kargopol as a Unique Example of Russian “Northern Art” to open in Moscow

The Theoretical and Practical Conference “Icons of Kargopol as a Unique Example of Russian ”Northern Art” will take place on February 15, 2019 in the Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery Church (Moscow).

The conference in the Russian Academy of Arts is timed to coincide with “Icons of Kargopol. Revival” exhibition project, which is closing soon. For the first time, 150 works of icon painting and carved wooden sculpture of Kargopol dating from the 15th - 19th centuries from the collection of Arkhangelsk museum are on display in the Russian Academy of Arts Museum and Exhibition Complex Halls after the restoration at the Grabar Art Conservation Center.
