International events: Russian pavilion opened at Venice Biennale

The Venice Biennale will be on from May 11 through November 24, 2019. On May 8 the Russian Pavilion opened preview shows for experts and media. The exposition features large-scale installations of modern artists - Alexander Sokurov and Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai, as well as a project of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

The installation is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death. It combines documentary film and animation, painting and sculpture. It uses scenes from paintings, including Rembrandt’s “The Return of the Prodigal Son”. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts presents a project in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Tintoretto’s birth.
