13 September 2020

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow) presents the project of the artist Leonid Tishkov "Pushkin in Boldino. History in Pictures (in Two Parts)". It will run November 1, 2020.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts develops the multimedia project "In the Pushkin Museum with Pushkin", which hero is the graphic character of Pushkin, created by the artist Leonid Tishkov. The project is based on the poet's letters, drawings and poems. On September 9, the second part of the project was launched. It is an exhibition of drawings and a book by Leonid Tishkov, entitled "Pushkin in Boldino. History in Pictures (in Two Parts)".

The start of the project "In the Pushkin Museum with Pushkin" was timed to coincide with the resumption of the museum work. The first part ("Pushkin's Advice to Us, Unwise People") provided the broadcasting of video works by director Andrei Silvestrov on the museum social media accounts. These videos spotlighted the main character of the project, Alexander Pushkin. It also featured the stories about the museum preparations for the opening, reports on new safety rules, as well as excursions to museum places that are usually closed to the public. From July 10, the museum promotes the general part of the project offline. It is an exhibition of graphics by Leonid Tishkov and updated museum navigation, which also involves the image of the poet.

Marking the 190th anniversary of the famous Boldin Autumn, Leonid Tishkov created a new story about the life of Alexander Sergeevich in Boldino.

In September 1830, Pushkin arrived in Boldino to inherit a part of the family estate. Then a cholera epidemic began in Russia, and the poet underwent lockdown. He created a lot of his significant works in forced isolation and finally completed "Eugene Onegin''. This period of his work was called the first Boldino autumn (later the poet visited the estate two times).

The exposition showcases more than 40 graphic sheets from the comic book "Pushkin in Boldino. History in Pictures (in Two Parts)".

The exposition also includes lifetime editions of works by Alexander Pushkin, created by the poet during the Boldino autumn. The patrons of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts - Mikhail and Elena Karisalov provided for the exhibition books from the private collection.
