Internet and History: Pilot version of the "Victory Documents" information retrieval system launched

14 September 2020

A pilot version of the "Victory Documents" information retrieval system was launched. The service processes archival materials of the Great Patriotic War using the latest text recognition technologies including artificial intelligence and semantic analysis. The database contains more than seven thousand electronic copies of historical documents from the collections of the State Archives of the Russian Federation and the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History.

The project was launched by the leading state system integrator "Voskhod" Research Institute in cooperation with the Federal Archival Agency.

"Victory Documents" is a long-term and promising project that helps to protect national history from falsifications and perversions, providing a useful full-text search for documents of that heroic period. One of its main tasks is to significantly increase the amount of digitized archival data and preserve it for future generations.

The system provides an effective search for information on archival documents of the period from 1941 to 1945. It makes the study of materials more available for a general audience and prevents attempts to misrepresent the history of the Great Patriotic War.
