On July 12, 2021, the "Second Front" exhibition will be opened in Maribor (Slovenia). It spotlights the history of the joint struggle of the Western Allies and the Soviet Union against Nazism during World War II. The exposition is created by specialists of the Victory Museum.

"The international exhibition project highlights the little-known pages of the war history related to the contribution of the Western Allies to the common Victory over Nazism. The exposition is presented on 26 banners," - said the exhibition organizers.

The exposition sections spotlight the main stages of the anti-Hitler coalition. It includes the landing of allied troops in Western Europe and the provision of supplies under Lend-Lease.

"Visitors will learn about the statistics of military equipment distributions to the USSR, see photographs and documents about the amphibious landing operation of the allied forces in German-occupied Normandy on June 6, 1944, the largest landing operation of World War II. It involved 10,440 aircraft and 6,330 ships", experts noted.

Besides, the exposition comprises photographs and documents of Admiral Nikolai Kharlamov, who played a decisive role in the creation and conduct of Arctic convoys. He was an official observer from the USSR for the landing of allied forces in Normandy. He was also a key figure in negotiations with the British allies on the launching of the Second Front in Europe.

Particular attention is paid to the meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe River in Germany in April 1945.

Also, the exhibition tells about the Victory Parade in Berlin, which took place on September 7, 1945. It was the last joint parade of the Red Army and the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition.

The partners of the Victory Museum exhibition are the Shannolt Museum of Military Aviation (USA) and the National Museum of Military History (Luxembourg).
