Museums and Society: Exhibition “Valentin Serov. The Collections of Russian Museums" presented in Vladivostok

9 January 2022

Primorsky State Art Gallery (Vladivostok) presents the exhibition “Valentin Serov. The Collections of Russian Museums" dedicated to the memorable date - the 110th anniversary of the artist's death. This is the first time such a large-scale exhibition has been organized outside both Russian capitals - Moscow and St. Petersburg. Thus, in Vladivostok, about 60 paintings and graphic works of the outstanding Russian artist are exhibited. Works from the collections of the country's leading museums: the State Russian Museum, the Primorskaya Art Gallery, the Omsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts and the Perm Art Gallery, reflect the artist's career spanning three decades.

Valentin Aleksandrovich Serov is one of the largest Russian artists of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. A remarkable portrait painter, he also created a number of outstanding landscapes, historical works, illustrations and theatrical sketches, took part in the publication of the magazine "World of Art", taught painting.

The exhibition “Valentin Serov. The Collections of Russian Museums” is multifaceted, like the work of the master itself. Despite the short life line, the line of creativity embodied all the main artistic trends of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.

The exhibition runs until March 13, 2022.
