Libraries of Russia: Conference dedicated to the 208th anniversary of the opening of the Imperial Public Library held in St. Petersburg

A conference dedicated to the 208th anniversary of the opening of the Imperial Public Library is launched in the Main Building of the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg) on January 14, 2022.

The conference in 2022 is dedicated to the prospects for the development of the information complex of the National Library of Russia. There will be delivered reports on the virtual resources of the Department of Manuscripts, on the features of archives in the modern information space, on the traditions of partnership between the library and readers of the New Building of the National Library of Russia.

A solemn act of handing over the manuscript of the novel “On a Difficult Pass: A Chronicle from the Epoch of 1914–1918” by the Minister of War of the Provisional Government (1917) Alexander Verkhovsky will take place at the conference. Alexander Ivanovich Verkhovsky - Russian military leader, Minister of War of the Provisional Government (1917), major general (1917), a brigade commander (1936) was repressed and shot in 1938. The typewritten text, presumably 1936, contains numerous personal edits by the author.
