Society and Culture: The Mikhailovsky Pushkin Readings to take place in the Pushkin Museum-Reserve

The annual conference The Mikhailovsky Pushkin Readings will take place on August 19-22, 2022 in the Pushkin Museum-Reserve (Pskov Region), marking the 198th anniversary since A. S. Pushkin’s arrival to the northern exile. This year, Russia celebrates another important date – the 350th anniversary since the birth of Emperor Peter the Great, whose image is one of the main ones in poet’s works. The understanding of Peter the Great’s reforms, his identity, his dynamic era, which became a turning point in Russia’s fate, continued throughout the whole artistic life of A. S. Pushkin.

Representatives of various areas of humanitarian knowledge are invited to participate in the Mikhailovsky Pushkin Readings: historians, philosophers, philologists, culturologists, museum specialists, as well as public, cultural and art figures. The following topics will be discussed:

– Historicism of Pushkin – thread connecting the times;

– Let the Orthodox descendants / Know bygone fate of native land;

– Peter the Great is the whole world history itself;

– Russia is too little-known to Russians;

– Relevance of studying Pushkin in schools and universities.
