RF prime minister: V. V. Putin will preside a session of the Russian Geographical Society Board of guardians

The RF prime-minister V. V. Putin will hold the enlarged session of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) Board of guardians which he heads. During the session the grant for research works support will be handed.

In particular in the nomination ‘Stable development of territories’ the grand will be given to the project ‘Baikal in the light of the stable development’; in the nomination ‘Youth ecological programs of RGO’ the grant will go to the ‘International geographical contest’; in the nomination ‘Rare animals protection’ – the ‘Program of study of a white bear in the Russian Arctic’, etc.

The implementation of the programs is very important for the Russian science development. The session will also be attended by the Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the RGO president S. Shoigy, the Russian media society representatives, businessmen and the leading researchers and geographers.

The RGO was established on August 18, 1845 under the order of the Emperor Nikolai I in St. Petersburg.
