International events: Cross-Cultural Festival “Europe Day” in St. Petersburg
The Fourth “Europe Day” - a unique cross-cultural festival is running in St. Petersburg September 23 - 24 2011. This grandiose event unites residents of St. Petersburg and European countries via the transnational language of art. Guests of the festival will make a wonderful trip to European countries and take the opportunity to learn about the recent trends in European culture and art.
Organizers of the festival – representative office of the European Union in Russia in partnership with Consulates General and Cultural Centers of EU members in St. Petersburg – have prepared a diverse program, which can offer something new and interesting to every St. Petersburg resident.
On September 23 debates focused on the theme “Many cultures – one Europe”, which have been prepared in cooperation with European University in St. Petersburg, will open the “Europe Days – 2011” program. Debates have attracted representatives of the European University, University of Amsterdam, St. Petersburg State University, cultural and educational projects, students, youth of St. Petersburg, journalists, experts from Europe and Russia.
September 23 will see an inauguration ceremony of “Europe Days – 2011” in St. Petersburg. The ceremony will take place at the Small Hall of St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic and will mark the opening of “Nordic Days in St. Petersburg”. Representatives of EU delegation in Russia, Nordic Council of Ministers and St. Petersburg City Administration will deliver the welcoming speech to attendees.
Open Doors Days as well as exhibitions, presentations and concerts will be launched at consulates and cultural centers of EU countries on September 24.
