On November 7 2011 Pskov Regional Research Library is opening an exhibition of ABC books of peoples of the world provided by the private collector from Latvia - Juris Cibuls. It has been organized by the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Pskov in partnership with Pskov Regional Research Library.

The collection of Yuris Cibuls features over 7300 ABC books from 208 countries of the world in 900 languages. The collection has gone on display for 160 times at museums, schools, libraries, clubs of Latvia, and in 1987 at the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in Moscow it was awarded a silver medal. In 2006 the collection was showcased within the exhibition in Greece.

The exhibition at Pskov Regional Research Library puts on show just a part of the collection – over 600 editions, including Russian ABC books from different times.

Yuris Cibuls will tell visitors of the exhibition about the history of the collection, and also touch upon particular features of world languages. The collector himself creates ABC books in Latgalian and Lettish languages.
