Exhibitions: Sport posters of the Russian Empire and the USSR presented in London
June 21, 2012 in the capital of the Great Britain in the framework of the cultural program of the Summer Olympic Games in London, opened an exhibition of Russian and Soviet sport posters of the 20th century.
The exposition, which opened in London's Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo, included rare posters from the collection of the outstanding masters of the Union of Artists of sports, most of which were not exhibited outside of Russia.
The traditions of amateur sport in the Russian Empire were laid in the late XIX century, and after the Civil War, the physical culture and sport in the country have acquired a mass character. The reason for this was the state policy aimed at improving the health, physical development, and leisure activities of young people.
A huge role in the broad propaganda of physical culture and sports belonged to the poster, the best samples of which are currently avaialble to public in the capital of Great Britain met.
