Memory of Russia: II Early Medieval Culture Festival “Princely Mountain” in the Novgorod Region
14 and July 15, 2012 near the famous Shum-Mountain (Zapolie village, Batetsky District, Novgorod Region) is taking place II Early Medieval Culture Festival "Princely Mountain." The territory of one of the oldest settlements in the trade route "From Varangians to Greeks", cloaked in numerous legends and historical facts, makes it possible to reveal the era of the beginning of formation of Russian statehood.
In total, the festival involves over 100 people. This allows recreate the life of early medieval settlement with almost historical authenticity.
In the center of the festival there is a spectacular and exciting event - on the basis of chronicles, the tale of the death of Prince Rurik is reconstructed. Fights, massive collisions, melee and mounted military maneuvers - all of it is represented according to the rules of medieval martial arts including weapons and vestments, created in accordance with ancient techniques.
