
World history: Russian exposition “Tragedy. Courage. Liberation” to be open in Poland
January 27, 2012 in the block №14 of the State Museum «Auschwitz-Birkenau” (Poland, Auschwitz) will take place the opening of the Russian exposition “Tragedy. Courage. Liberation”. The opening of the exposition is timed to the International Remembrance Day of Holocausts victims and the 68th anniversary of the liberation by the Red Army the prisoners of Auschwitz.
The exhibition has been prepared for a long time. For its creation it was necessary to carry out an extensive research together with specialists of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the involvement of veterans of the last war, former prisoners and members of the liberation of the concentration camp.
The board of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War yet in 2009 appealed to the citizens of Russia and the CIS to take part in the formation of the subject part of the exhibition. Archival materials, photographs, memoirs and memories of concentration camp prisoners, personal things of the victims of the Nazi occupation regime, as well as materials of Soviet soldiers liberating Auschwitz, documents and photographs of the prisoners liberated by military medics of the Red Army and staff of the Red Cross – all this was the start of creation of a unique, memorable exposition.
Memorable events, held in connection with the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp, are given the high representative status. They will be attended by delegations from many countries, whose citizens were in concentration camps, members of International Auschwitz Council, former prisoners of the concentration camp “Auschwitz-Birkenau”, veterans of the World War II, who took part in the liberation of the concentration camp and city Auschwitz.
