Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibition to commemorate the 185th birthday anniversary of N. G. Chernyshevsky in Syktyvkar
July 22, 2013, the National Library of the Komi Republic (Syktyvkar) presents "He woke people with the eternal question "What to do?" exhibition timed to the 185th anniversary of the birth of writer and journalist Nikolai Chernyshevsky.
The main stages of Chernyshevsky’s life are briefly and succinctly described in the book of E. Yaroslavsky, "Nikolai Gavrilovich Chernyshevsky" (Moscow, 1919). The book reveals the facts of childhood and teenage years of the writer, his university studies and family life, the beginning of literary activities and exile.
The monograph "The critical literature on the works of Chernyshevsky" (Moscow, 1908, Vol. 1) is a collection that includes all the best that could be written about the works of the writer by the beginning of the 20th century.
In addition to books and monographs, the exhibition will feature literary and scientific journals that published articles on Nikolai Chernyshevsky.
The exhibition is open to all wishing to explore the diverse literary heritage of Chernyshevsky, in many areas of which he was an innovator.
The exhibition will run until August 4, 2013.
