Memory of Russia: A monument to Emperor Alexander III opened in Nizhny Novgorod

28 August 2013

A monument to Russian Emperor Alexander III was opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Annunciation Monastery. A bronze bust on a marble pedestal took place near the cathedral of the church. The author of the monument is an Honored Artist of Russia Alexei Apollonov.

The opening ceremony of the monument is timed to the 400th anniversary of the House of Romanov. The book “The Romanovs and the Nizhny Novgorod province”, which will be released in the near future, is dedicated to the same date.

This is the second monument to Russian monarchs in Nizhny Novgorod. Earlier in the Pechersky Ascension Monastery was installed a bronze bust of the Emperor Alexander II. The plans include the construction of the monument to Nicholas II in the Holy Cross Monastery in Nizhny Novgorod.
